An immature 'Projection' whilst active.

Projection (投影, literally meaning 'Trace Version') is the hiden ability Koyoichi possesses where just by memorizing the structure of a physical item he is able to reproduce the shape and substance of it and store it within Unlimited Blade Works. Notably this ability cannot be copied by the Sharingan. This ability differs from that of other predominant three is that it doesn't manifest the user's eyes, instead coursing throughout the veins leading throughout their body causing certain areas to glow a light green as they commit a physical object to memory visually (Immature 'Projection'). The mature version is displayed on the eye of the user where three different runes may be inscribed (Ash, Thorn, Hail) depending on the latter's alignment. This ability currently resides only in Koyoichi.

Objects created with this ability are slightly inferior to the original due to the fact that only so much information can be gathered by sight alone. Objects need to be seen directly in order to be memorised, as even with a blueprint and materials, the item cannot be constructed. Objects seen through shared memories can be properly memorised.

The process of projecting an item is mentally divided into seven steps, which includes:

  1. Judging the concept of creation
    • Step 1-2.
    • Step 3-4.
    • Step 5-6.
    • Step 7 - Product Creation.
  2. Hypothesizing the basic structure
  3. Duplicating the composition material
  4. Imitating the skill of its making
  5. Sympathizing with the experience of its growth
  6. Reproducing the accumulated years
  7. Excelling every manufacturing process

Due to the extra effort, it is possible to produce incredibly stable ordinary items that can remain in the world for hours after their creation. Furthermore, whenever replicating unique weapons, it is possible to faithfully copy their special abilities and any skill that its owner performed are available for use. The reason this is possible is due to the nature of Unlimited Blade Works, which at a glance, records the history, composition, and design of what the user sees, and then provides the necessary materials needed to reproduce them. The actual reproduction happens within Unlimited Blade Works and then they are brought into the real world when they are needed through Projection. If the image of the projection is interrupted in any way, the item will be physically weak and shatter upon physical impact. It is also possible to apply Reinforcement to objects recorded within Unlimited Blade Works, as shown with Caladbolg II or Kanshō and Bakuya.
