Sawaru Uchiha (退廃的なうちは, Uchiha Sawaru) was a retired shinobi from Kumogakure, who was manipulated by Arienai into staging a (failed) attack on the Lightning Daimyō. He had worked as a politician for the later half of his life, but ultimately ended up as a mere tool to lure his own first-born son to Arienai's side.
Background[]
It is known that Sawaru had been a rather respected shinobi in his younger years, and the wielder of the infamous weapon Iyasu. He had served in Kumogakure as a Jōnin, leading teams on missions often. Eventually, he stepped down from his role as a shinobi to serve as a politician, helping to maintain the stability of the Land of Lightning alongside other notable political figures, including the Lightning Daimyō.
At an unknown time in his life, he had married a villager of Kumogakure, and started a family. He had three children: the eldest being Yasaka Uchiha, then Karōshi Uchiha, and the youngest being Etsuko Uchiha. However, as his children aged, he became increasingly more distant from his family. He was eventually approached by Arienai, who used Kotoamatsukami to manipulate Sawaru into gathering a a small group of shinobi to assassinate the Lightning Daimyō. However, this goal was little more than a means to motivate Yasaka into fighting his father through a series of set-ups.
When the time came for Arienai's plans to be put into action, Sawaru ordered the attack, but as planned, it had been thwarted by Yasaka, who had been placed as a guard earlier on through Arienai's deceptive methods. Sawaru was later attacked in his hideout by his son, leading to a fight between the two, in which Sawaru attempted to taunt his son, explaining that power was the only way to move up in the world. It would end with Sawaru retreating and unwillingly leaving Iyasu behind, allowing Yasaka to take the weapon. In a final attempt to teach his son a lesson, he lured him to their home, where he slew his own wife and daughter before Yasaka's eyes under the orders of Arienai. Moments later, Yasaka would impale him with his own signature weapon, becoming the sacrifice needed for him to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan. What became of his body is unknown, but it is likely that he was cremated.
Personality[]
Sawaru was a very secretive and reclusive man. He had always distanced himself from everyone around him, including his own family. This was for the purpose of focusing on his own greedy plans and desires, which ultimately allowed Arienai to lure him into the trap which would result in Kotoamatsukami's influence over him. When perturbed or when in combat, Sawaru became very aggressive (and even slightly animalistic), even killing those precious to him just to make a point to his opponent, as shown in his final moments.
Appearance[]
Sawaru was a tall, fair-skinned man with golden eyes, and long black hair which was braided at the sides, and tied in the back into a ponytail that draped down to his waist. He had a set dragon tattoos covering both arms, and a portion of his forehead. When in combat, he wore the standard Jōnin uniform of Kumogakure, along with a trench coat and Iyasu on his back. When at peace, he wore a simple white formal robe.
Abilities[]
Ninjutsu[]
Sawaru was a well-balanced shinobi, with abilities that ranged from a decent range of elemental techniques to weapon-enhancing ninjutsu. He was known to have an above-average chakra pool, and he could form hand seals very quickly.
Nature Transformation[]
Sawaru was a user of Lightning Release and Fire Release. He was capable of using rather powerful techniques such as Chidori, showing that he had a wide knowledge of the Lightning element. As an Uchiha, it was only natural for him to possess remarkable strength as a Fire Release user, as evidenced by his highly strategic use of the element often.
Bukijutsu[]
While Sawaru was never shown to be using common ninja tools often, his expert-level use of Iyasu suggests that he had been trained to use a spear at some point in the past. He could also channel lightning chakra along the length of his tantō, and most likely did this often as well.
Sharingan[]
Sawaru was known to have used the Sharingan efficiently in his life, casting genjutsu and copying other techniques when needed. With his set of eyes, he was also capable of predicting one's movements based on muscle tensions. Chakra was visible to him with the use of his dōjutsu, making him effective in countering opposing genjutsu. He had progressed the Sharingan to full maturity, displaying three tomoe.
