[[File:Standard Gear.jpg|thumb|left|Standard Desert Gear.]]The standard gear for the desert shinobi includes a dun colored flack jacket containing numerous pockets for scrolls and other gear, dark loose fitting trousers, and the ''Keffiyeh'' to protect their heads from the sun. The forehead protector(額当て, Hitai-ate) is usually worn as the ''Agal'' to keep the head covering in place. Others may wear it either upon the forehead, neck, arms, or other areas as suits the comfort of the individual warrior. Often times this item is omitted altogether during covert operations in order to allow the village deniability in the event of mission failure. An accessory tool pouch comes as part of the standard gear and is typically affixed to the leg or waist. As Sunagakure is noted for its excellence in medical training and facilities, it is quite common for many of the shinobi to pack along their own medical supplies as befits their personal skill level. Those who specialize in Fūton often carry large fan upon their backs. Members of the village puppet brigade(傀儡部隊, Kugutsu Butai) are also noted for packing their war puppets in this same manner or within scrolls of summoning.

'''Dungeons of Sunagakure''' For those unhappy individuals who find themselves conscripted 'guests' of Sunagakure no Sato, the dungeons offer a wide variety of delights. There are the open population wards, where the inhabitants of this underground world commingle sharing the vast experiences with one another to the delight of all, save the weakest among them. The privileged members of this congregation, have lavished upon them spa treatment under the skilled hands of the desert's finest interrogators. Such individuals are often house in single occupancy dwellings. Those who excel even beyond the privileged few, are treated to the finest suits known as oubliettes. Here the aesthetic one can forget about life's woes and concentrate his meditations upon more esoteric concerns. This marvelous resort is accessed through the numerous tunnels beyond the guard stations with in the cliff walls themselves.

'''Streets of Sunagakure''' Upon entering the streets of Sunagakure one is immediately inundated by a wide variety of sights, sounds, color, and smells of the bazaar. This is in stark contrast to the bleak environs of the sand seas in which the village is encompassed. And perhaps this is precisely why the people of Sunagkaure had adopted such a rich and vibrant culture to counter the dreary nondescript sands.

===Recent Actions===
  +
*Total Reinforcement of the Walls and Caverns
  +
: As of ''November 16th 2014'', all barrier walls surrounding the village were repaired and reinforced to prevent and minimize damage during seismic activity. This procedure included not only the structures within the village, but to those caverns and structures below the sands as well. These were to include and not be limited to the ruins of the ancient Al-Kahtar city and the water canals from which the village and surrounding region derives its water supply.
  +
*Third Stage Barrier, blocking space time jutsu.
  +
: After the attack and brutal maiming of the Rokudaime Kazekage Silver Moonfire, the ban on all Space Time jutsu was enacted at his behest. The barrier was implemented after the design was agreed upon by the council and put into practice.
  +
*Total Fūinjutsu Sweep and Renewal
  +
: As of ''March 19th 2013,'' all vagrant fūinjutsu not belonging to the Kazekage or active Sunagakure shinobi forces have been located and removed from within the village and from the village walls by Suna's security team.  All otherwise officially documented fūinjutsu have been re-installed.

====[[Particle Disruption Seal]]====
  +
: ''Ryūshi no Konran Fuu''; drawing its power from the same supply as the kekkai it is engraved to, this seal spreads out a village-wide field of wildly fluctuating energy, not unlike that utilized in space-time techniques. Due to its chaotic nature it keeps the village in a state of constant flux, mild enough not to hamper the populaces daily living, yet still plenty strong to disrupt and break apart any and all space-time jutsus. The effect is indiscriminate, affecting both local and visitor alike, unless they are branded by a special seal. This seal acts as a counter to the jamming, negating just enough of the energy to create a minuscule 'bubble', a safe-zone just barely big enough for one person to utilize. The seals can be deactivated at the will of the Kazekage should the need arise.

==History==
Vibrant tarps, providing shade in front of shops, cover the wares of a variety of merchants each with their own unique style of attracting customers. Foods cooked there before the buyer's eyes send a melange of scent through the air, cries of sales and the splendors of what you can find only here create a din of music to assail the visitor's ears. Glass blowers, utilizing Suna's greatest resource...namely the sands, can be seen in competition one with the other dotted about the streets. Clothiers, and silk merchants, leather workers, and metals smiths all eke their living from the streets each day. The occasional wandering minstrel, as likely to pick your pocket as to sing you a ditty, passes by with a grin and a tug of his cap. The occasional merchant can be found selling the rare and unusual oddity, be it real or false...let the buyer be ware. The most decadent and ostentatious of venders can be found selling...le gasp...beef...to his discriminating customers.

===Pre-History===
  +
Though an arid wasteland at the present date, what is known today as the Land of Wind was not always a vast desert, but rather a fair green country. Over a thousand years ago twas lush to the point of being nearly a jungle, housing a culture known as Al-Kahtar or more commonly as just 'The Ancients'. Much of that race is as of yet unknown, including whether they were humans or a whole other species of their own, but at least one thing can be said for certain; they were far more advanced, if not literally more evolved, than any people the world has yet to see to this day.

  +
Through focusing on self improvement and science rather than warfare as was so prevalent those days, the Al-Kahtar were able to achieve quite significant power in matters of both the body and in particular the mind; their level of technology was no lesser for it. Despite years of extensive study of their artifacts, few to none have been able to even begin to fathom how their creations functioned, much less how they were built in the first place; many would find it easier to compare their craft to borderline magic, rather than something man-made. Despite all their might however, even their civilization could not endure the cataclysm that turned the once verdant land into the desert it is today, and now little more remains of the once sophisticated civilization than ruins and obscure relics.
During business hours the village seems almost choked with people, yet let nightfall and you wonder where the life in this desert abode has gone. Small wonder; nights in the desert plummet to chilling temperatures forcing most sensible people indoors to seek heat and rest. Still, life can be found at night, but it is a risky business to do so.

  +
Their knowledge and history were not lost to time for good however, for thanks to the fortunate discovery of few and precious manuscripts, stone carvings and canister sealed archives, study and understanding of the ancient culture can still continue and has since then advanced by leaps and bounds.

#'''The Glassy Miracles''' ''SilverMoonfire's Blown Glass Shop'' The Glassware shop of Suna, known as 'Glassy Miracles', is some piece of art in itself. The shop is a dome made of glass and bricks alike. From above the shop looks like the Yin-Yang ,symbol formed of blue bricks and glass. The door is made of milky blue tinted glass and the name of the shop hangs above the door. Within the interior, the bricks are of a nice lively orange color and the light, shining through the window above, breaks into every color of the rainbow. Shelves made of milky glass hold the wares of the shop. (Figurines, mirrors, special ninja tools) Further back stands the wooden counter as well as a giant oven.

#'''Life on A String:''' ''CJ's Kugutsu Store.'' The title of the puppet shop is displayed above the entrance in red lettering. Above the "Life on a String" lettering are two large hands holding the traditional crossed sticks with strings used to manipulate ordinary puppets, with the strings leading down to the words. Once stepping into the puppet shop, the smell of fresh, oiled wood is all around. To the right are display cases showing unique and finely crafted puppets of the highest caliber. In the center of the shop and on the left toward the back are shelves with puppets of all sizes and uses sitting on them, ranging from small child puppets to the slightly more experienced. Just as you enter on the left are 3 or 5 combat puppets (depending on which are there and the sizes) on full display with prices attached. Near the back wall is a counter with a cash register and a open notebook on the far side for people to list puppets to be made. A small ring can be seen in the back corner, a handle to descend into a lower area. On the other side are stairs that go behind a wall into the upper floor.

#'''Osa's Underground Sake House''' The underground sake house was owned and run by a formidable woman named Osa who has quite a shrew eye for business. Built beneath the sands of Suna, the sake house stayed cool despite the oppressive heat of the desert. Schist slaps of stone had been hauled in for the roof which here supported by thick hand hewn beams of Cedar imported from some far off region. The gods knew that had been a costly endeavor but clearly Osa could afford to outfit her establishment with such luxuries. Broad steps led off the patio, outside at ground level, down to the house below from which soft music could be heard. Una, the saucy waitress whom Osa had adopted for her own, tended her customers with a quick whit and reliable service. Marzipan, the mysteriously militant chef, was famed for the ability to reproduce any dish upon request.

  +
While the exact details of the cataclysm ending this age have been lost so far back into legend that few to none believe the land was once a verdant country anymore, the fact it was now a harsh and windy, beyond inhospitable climate remains irrefutable.
'''The Town Square''' resides off the center of the village and is a large round courtyard into which the streets spill rather like the spokes of a wheel. It is encompassed by stone wall upon which carvings of the villager's heroic pasts, legends of their gods, and lore of the land is depicted. Inside large niches, about the courtyard side of the wall, reside large statues hewn of stone. The statues depict noted warriors and Kazekages of the past. One in particular is of a warrior mounted upon the body of a fire lizard in which three kunai are embedded into the chest of the warrior up to their hilts. A well marks the centerpiece of the courtyard with steps of stone encircling it. Within the courtyard festivals are held on various holidays. Otherwise it is peoples with children at play, old and young couples walking about and neighbors visiting.

'''Residential Sector''' Here the homes of the citizens are arrayed throughout the village and various streets. The unique architecture is not prone to fire as most dwelling are constructed from stone or abode-like materials. Several citizens have taken to placing their dwelling beneath the ground in order to have a more controlled climate to live in as well as to provide extra fortifications in which to dwell. Patrols of guards are a common sight no matter the time of day. Many of the residences have catch systems to collect what little precipitation occurs in the desert. There feed into individual residential cisterns for the private use of those who reside there.

'''The Mission Office''' Here the missions for the shinobi of the village are handed out. This is not including the secret mission that come directly down from the Kazekage, but those that are petitioned by the surrounding Lords of Wind Country, Suna's regular clientele. The place usually has a lone warrior lurking about who looks quite sinister. He is on call and ready at a moments notice to run for specific ninja in the village who are assigned a 'special mission'. Within can be found a gathering room where meetings are held when certain of these missions necessitate discussion. The current Kazekage is also known to use white doves as messengers to give out missions.

'''Sunagakure's Library''' Here are stored various items of lore, fantasy, fact, and fiction that the various Kazekages have collected throughout the years. Although certainly people may come here to interact from time to time, mostly solitary study is conducted here. A massive system of shelves and line the walls of this great chamber as well as form free standing corridors between which the studious visitor may walk. Tables and comfortable chairs populate the repository with lighting conveniently placed to aid in their research. Although a librarian is on duty at all times, it is just as likely for one to find the elderly gentleman asleep in his on site quarters as alert and in attendance behind his desk. The lax attitude of Yabu is tolerated due to the esteem he has earned in the scholarly arts throughout his life.

'''Kodou Jigabachi''' ''[Way of the Wasp]: Academy Training Grounds.'' The academy had stood in its current location since the founding of Sunagakure. Over the years, as each new crop of Academy students passed through its doors, graduates left to fill the ranks of the village's warriors. Traditions were passes down through the generations and loyalties formed between classmates as well as for the village. The place boasted training grounds where the shinobi and the village could come even after graduating to hone their skills or pass down their knowledge to the students. Today, as every day, the grounds were busy. This area of the village contains the academy, training grounds, testing arena and sparing zones. Training is often conducted on the sand seas.

'''Onshitsu''' ''[The Greenhouse]'' This medical compound holds the Infirmary and Quonset hut Gardens. Here all are treated and medical staff trained with an emphasis on triage and poisons. The Infirmary is a unit of precision, orderliness, and ascetic conditions. All within its confines are highly skilled medical nin, as well as the medical students who perform their minor duties under the supervision of their trainers. The greenhouse is on the hospital grounds where herbs are cultivated and research is conducted. This glass Quonset hut, being large enough to house a wide variety of plant life and fungi, is the pride of Suna's herbology medical corps. Not only are natural curatives incorporated into the standard medical jutsus, but also research into rare poisons and their antitoxins are conducted within. Medical students tend these pampered gardens and train in their preparation and usage.

'''The Ancient Ruins''' Deep beneath the sands of Sunagakure resides the ancient ruins of a once mighty civilization known as the Al-Katahr. A huge cavern serves as the location for these ruins. A vaulted ceiling of rock formations protects it from the world above. No one knows what purpose the Al-Katahr had in carving their homes within the earth, but none can deny the craftsmanship that went into the laborious years of its creation. As one walks through natural tunnels cut through the stone, they come into a vast cavern and see the city looming up before them. Here the Kazekage stumbled upon these ruins on one of her expeditions and it is now utilized it as a last stronghold for the people in times of war. Stores of food and weapons are in the first few dwellings beyond the stone wall that separates it from the system of tunnels one must traverse to reach this abandoned city. No one knows what happened to these people or what the entirety of the city may contain. Further explorations are needed to uncover its secrets. '''Note''': ''The access to Al-Kahtar is a heavily guarded secret in both word and defenses. Every entrance is guarded by deals and shinobi who will allow none to enter this area of Suna's defenses.''

Within the city, all manner of cultures reside engaging in trade and political intrigue. As such, most anything can be found for sale either legally or otherwise. Guildhalls, temples, shops, and residences are intermingled with play houses, tea shops, and certain dens of iniquity.

Sunagakure (砂隠れの里, Sunagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Sand") lies in the Land of Wind. As one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Sunagakure's leader is the Kazekage, the most recent being Chusaki Takaharu. Ninja from this village are known to specialize in Fūton, Dokuton and Kugutsu no Jutsu.

Gathered together from the various desert dwelling warriors of the sands, Sunagakure has the smallest population of all the great nations. The shinobi make up for this deficit with their ferocity. Their philosophy: success of a mission supersedes all, even the lives of the warriors involved. The sands present a variety of dangers for any outsider who dares to trespass upon their world.

Standard Gear

Standard Desert Gear.

The standard gear for the desert shinobi includes a dun colored flack jacket containing numerous pockets for scrolls and other gear, dark loose fitting trousers, and the Keffiyeh to protect their heads from the sun. The forehead protector(額当て, Hitai-ate) is usually worn as the Agal to keep the head covering in place.

After the attack and brutal maiming of the Rokudaime Kazekage Silver Moonfire, the ban on all Space Time jutsu was enacted at his behest. The barrier was implemented after the design was agreed upon by the council and put into practice.
  • Total Fūinjutsu Sweep and Renewal
As of March 19th 2013, all vagrant fūinjutsu not belonging to the Kazekage or active Sunagakure shinobi forces have been located and removed from within the village and from the village walls by Suna's security team.  All otherwise officially documented fūinjutsu have been re-installed.

Active Installations

Sensing System Technique

This is a detection type barrier that can be used to surround the entire village in a transparent dome, and allows the security team to monitor said area remotely.  The barrier is connected to a second, smaller barrier called a Sensing Water Ball (感知水球, Kanchi Suikyū) which the technique user uses to detect entrants into the barrier as well as maintain the size, and shape barrier. When someone passes through the barrier, the sphere ripples at the point of entry.  This sphere is made from water, and persons, or chakra is represented as varying-sized blimps.

Hidden Eye Technique

A technique inspired by the Telescope TechniqueFūinjutsu: Kakushi-Me creates seals which when remotely activated by a user act as an "eye" for surveillance purposes.  These seals are well hidden along the main gate's walls as well as the walls within the village itself.  They are mostly concentrated along high-traffic streets and the marketplace.  There is a special security team dedicated to running these seals in shifts throughout the day.

Particle Disruption Seal

Ryūshi no Konran Fuu; drawing its power from the same supply as the kekkai it is engraved to, this seal spreads out a village-wide field of wildly fluctuating energy, not unlike that utilized in space-time techniques.

History

Pre-History

Though an arid wasteland at the present date, what is known today as the Land of Wind was not always a vast desert, but rather a fair green country. Over a thousand years ago twas lush to the point of being nearly a jungle, housing a culture known as Al-Kahtar or more commonly as just 'The Ancients'. Much of that race is as of yet unknown, including whether they were humans or a whole other species of their own, but at least one thing can be said for certain; they were far more advanced, if not literally more evolved, than any people the world has yet to see to this day.

Their knowledge and history were not lost to time for good however, for thanks to the fortunate discovery of few and precious manuscripts, stone carvings and canister sealed archives, study and understanding of the ancient culture can still continue and has since then advanced by leaps and bounds.

While the exact details of the cataclysm ending this age have been lost so far back into legend that few to none believe the land was once a verdant country anymore, the fact it was now a harsh and windy, beyond inhospitable climate remains irrefutable.

In-Game Rules

These rules apply directly to those who [mainstream] role-play within Sunagakure:

  1. No foreigners are to auto-enter or exit Suna. Doing so will result in a warning, ask for said player to repost, and if they don't comply, they will be ignored.
  2. Only active members of Suna may role-play Suna NPCs.
  3. Abide by the decisions made by the higher ups within the village, even if you don't agree with them.
  4. If you have a problem with a decision made concerning you, or others, from Suna Higher Ups, bring it to their attention directly. Don't let the hurt or disagreement go unsaid for 2 months, only to go rogue or do some action against the village. We can't help you if you don't speak to us about your problems.
  5. If you role-play within the village, you are subjected to the posts of others attempting to interact with you. If their post is fair and fit, and you fail to 'protect' yourself, or 'evade' the other player's attempt by your next post, they have the opportunity to legitimately auto-hit you, just like in the zone fights.
  6. NOTICE TO ATTACKERS ~ "If attacking the village you must wait for a reply before enacting your successful aggressions against this village. Any and all massive destruction posts against the village that are made without allowing defenders the opportunity to respond will be ignored."

Tip Jar

A standard tip jar is set out in the town square during all village functions to fund the old shinobi retirement ranch [location is on a need to know basis and carefully guarded]. All donations are tax deductible and very much appreciated.
