The Tomoe Rinnegan is an advanced form of the Rinnegan that has only been activated by a select few. It is evolved by the process of obtaining the Rinnegan through the combination of DNA of both the Senju Clan, Uchiha Clan in one's body through intensive gene therapy, as well as have legitimately obtained the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. Thus far, this dōjutsu has only been shown to be awakened in one eye and is speculated to be only achievable as such.
Obtaining:
After awakening the 'base' Rinnegan, one can further elevate it through coming into contact with a 'pure' source of the chakra of the Uchiha and Senju Clans shared progenitor. This can be achieved through various means such as experimenting with chakras of the aforementioned lineage as well as coming into contact with the chakra of the Tailed Beasts which are rumored to be created by the Uchiha/Senju Ancestor through an unknown technique.
Abilities:
The Tomoe Rinnegan serves as an intermediary between the Mangekyō Sharingan and Rinnegan, allowing its user to access the known techniques of both dōjutsu without need to switch between. Though it does not grant any new skills, it is said to be as 'strong' as the usage of Rinnegan in both eyes. Over usage of this eye's Rinnegan based techniques. will cause it to lose its six tomoe as well as prevent the bearer from taking advantage of the other dōjutsu their body possesses, minus the base Sharingan, effectively shutting them down. This of course requiring an extended cool down to recover from which in practice means cutting one off for the rest of an instance of conventional combat.
